Michael Whiting
Constructed from welded steel and painted with bright automotive enamels, artist Michael Whiting (he/him) creates playfully pixilated sculptures. His work explores the visual connection between the “primitive” technology of early video gaming and 1960s Minimalist sculpture. His art also creates a dialogue about the relationship between the “real” and the “virtual,” hinting at the influence of technology in our daily lives. Since receiving his MFA at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, Michael Whiting’s work has been exhibited in numerous indoor and outdoor exhibitions. His extensive work in the public realm includes permanent monumental works across the country including Sunnyvale, CA, Salt Lake City (Sugarhouse), UT, Lansing, MI, Albuquerque, NM, Long Beach, CA, and multiple projects in the Greater Denver, CO and Seattle, WA Areas.
