The Salt Lake City Public Art Program is overseen by the Salt Lake City Arts Council and guided by the Salt Lake Art Design Board—a seven-member citizen advisory group appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council. The Board includes three working artists or arts administrators/educators, one architect, and three individuals with expertise in public art and community engagement.
According to city ordinance, the Design Board is responsible for recommending artist selections, reviewing designs, and advising on the execution and placement of artworks, with final approval granted by the Mayor. Each Design Board member may serve up to two three-year terms. Board members are not eligible to receive Salt Lake City Public Art Commissions.
