Denyse R. Davis
Denyse R. Davis (she/they) is a queer, Filipino-American multidisciplinary artist based in Salt Lake City. Rooted in identity, connection, and emotional nuance, their work reimagines real-world environments through a surreal, expressive lens. Using vibrant, whimsical color and fluid brushwork, Denyse explores the in-between—those fleeting, often untouchable intimacies that shape perception, memory, and selfhood. Informed by a background in Community Health and years of nomadic travel across the United States and Europe, Denyse’s practice bridges personal narrative and social dialogue. Their work reflects an ongoing curiosity about collective consciousness, contemporary life, and how systems of power intersect with lived experience, particularly within queer and BIPOC communities. Denyse has exhibited throughout the American West, completed public and private murals—including large-scale festival installations—and painted live at various events. Through expressive acrylic palettes and dynamic movement, their art invites viewers into reflection, tenderness, and the radical potential of connection.
