Heath Satow Sculpture
Heath Satow (he/him) has been based in Ogden for the last 9 years, after 17 years in downtown Los Angeles. With 36 years of experience creating site-specific public art worldwide, Satow is personally involved in every step of a project, from concept and community engagement to engineering, fabrication, and installation, ensuring his iconic sculptures are buildable and durable. Satow has used mirror-polished stainless steel to engage the viewer with surfaces that reflect shifting light, seasons, and movement, distorting and re-ordering surroundings to create fresh interpretations of the familiar. He has also been creating work in corten and gold lately. Influenced early on by the craftsmanship of Martin Puryear and Anish Kapoor, Satow prioritizes clarity of form and the “importance of the object.” His work provides an immediate visual impact while revealing more layers of meaning to daily viewers, ultimately inviting the public to pause and “tune back in” to their world.
