Davis works primarily with wood and bronze, sometimes in clay. She has been commissioned for public and private works, including the U.S. Film Festival, and has exhibited her work almost every year since 1982. She has been the recipient of much recognition for her work as a sculptor including the North American Sculpture Award.

Her wood sculptures of cats, dogs, horses, and inanimate objects are staples at Phillips Gallery in Salt Lake City. Her work can also be seen at Coda Galleries in Palm Desert and Park City, Meyer East Gallery in Santa Fe, Gallery B in Lexington, KY., Torrey Gallery, in Torrey, UT.

Silvia L. Davis was born in Cupertino, California to Swedish immigrants and moved to Salt Lake City at the age of 9. She received her BFA and MFA sculpture degrees at the University of Utah.
