Fleet Block Open Space RFQ

Public art project on the southeast corner of the former Fleet Block site (approx. 320 West 900 South) Salt Lake City, Utah | City Council District 5

The Salt Lake City Arts Council’s Public Art Program, in collaboration with Salt Lake City Public Lands, the Mayor’s Office, and project stakeholders, is commissioning an artist or artist-led team to create a significant public artwork for the Fleet Block Open Space. This artwork should reflect values articulated through extensive community engagement, including justice, equity, belonging, and collective healing. The selected artist will also help define a conceptual framework for future artworks by other community artists to be commissioned separately by Salt Lake City.

COMMISION BUDGET: $350,000

DEADLINE: Tuesday, February 17, 2026 by 11:59 pm MT

ELIGIBILITY:

ELIGIBILITY: This Call for Artists is open to all artists or artist-led teams located within the United States regardless of race, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, age, marital status, political opinion or affiliation, or mental or physical disability.

Strong preference will be given to artists or teams who demonstrate the ability to create artwork that reflects values articulated through prior community engagement for the Fleet Block Open Space, including justice, equity, belonging, and collective healing. Preference will also be given to artists with experience developing projects that thoughtfully respond to a site’s history, context, and community significance through collaboration with project stakeholders.

SUBMISSIONS: All applications must be submitted through the CaFÉ (CallforEntry.org)
